Publicity/Marketing/Events Planning Internship
New York Writers Workshop is looking for an unpaid, part-time publicity/ marketing/events planning intern to work ten-to-twenty hours per week in close coordination with NYWW board and/or staff members. Once intern is conversant with procedures, most work can be done from intern’s own home.
Interns will work closely with the board or staff member to execute publicity and marketing plans for current and forthcoming classes, conferences, readings, and events. Ideal candidates should be familiar with various social media platforms (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Goodreads). Interns must know how to work with SquareSpace and WordPress from the back end.
Interns will be expected to perform research to update database contacts; follow up on select pitches to media; draw up social media campaigns optimized for multiple platforms (Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook); write pitch letters; conduct media outreach in advance of author and organization events; generate publicity materials (flyers, posters) for events; maintain press kits and publicity materials for new titles; write original content for our website; and assist the board and staff member/s with other day-to-day tasks. Interns will also maintain website, making certain that all material is current, and that future events are posted well in advance of dates.
Interns will be expected to attend and help out at monthly readings series at Red Room (85 E 4th Street), attend and help out at Small Press Pitch and NYWW Pitch Conferences (two in Spring, two in Autumn), and at other NYWW events (fund raisers, panels, readings).

Most work can be done from intern’s own home, with occasional visits to Upper West Side office (200 Riverside Blvd, Ste 32E), class locations on Upper West Side, Midtown, and Lower East Side, and our office in Brooklyn.
